Scholarships for Vietnamese Americans

Vietnamese Americans just like other Asian communities highly value education.  To support their educational efforts several organizations have scholarships for Vietnamese students.

Scholarships Offered by The Vietnamese American Foundation

The Vietnamese American Scholarship Foundation (VASF) offers Vietnamese American students in the greater Houston area scholarships to pursue their educational dreams.  There are several scholarships offered by VASF.


  • The Vera Tran Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors of Vietnamese descent wishing to pursue further education. One student in the greater Houston area will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $2000.  Applicants must excel academically and be committed to community service. The fund is particularly looking to reward a future leader who has desires to serve the community.
  • The Danny T. Le Memorial Scholarship is available to students of Vietnamese descent from the Greater Houston area pursuing further education.  The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and college students.  Each year, one student will receive a one-time scholarship of $1250. Applicants must excel academically, be committed to community service, and have a strong determination to carry through their goals.
  • The Thuy Nguyen Scholarship  is for graduating High School Senior from the Houston or surrounding area, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and family's annual income of less than $50,000.  Students should also submit an essay in 1000 words or less, what does being Vietnamese American mean to you and how does it affect your life.
  • Lê Hoàng Nguyên (LHN) College Scholarship is intended to provide scholarships to outstanding graduating high school seniors attending college in the upcoming fall semester. Awards are based on academic merit, personal integrity, leadership aptitude, and future career goals. One award will be given each year in the amount of $500 and will be presented to the recipient’s university, in the recipient's name upon, verification of enrollment. Students will also be required to submit an essay.

Vietnamese students also qualify for most of the scholarships for Asian Americans.
