College Rifle Scholarships

Like guns? Well if you use them for the right purpose, it can land you a college scholarship. Rifling one of the great indoors/outdoor past time can earn you a scholarship to help you pay through college. While you may not qualify for an NCAA undergraduate college scholarship for rifling there are several other organizations and colleges who will give you a scholarship.

National Rifle Association Foundation College Scholarship

There is no doubt that NRA's sole purpose is promote gun ownership and protect the rights of those who legally own them. To take it a step further NRA foundation has several scholarshps ranging from $2,000 to $7,500 for the students who compete in rifling and have good academic record. These scholarships are issued through The Youth Education Summit, a seven-day, expense paid educational experience in Washington, D.C., for high school sophomores and juniors. While in the nation's capital, students learn the significance of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and develop an understanding of federal government and the importance of active citizenship.

CMP ROTC Scholarship Program

The CMP ROTC Scholarship Program annually provides one-hundred $1,000 college scholarships to high school seniors and college underclassmen who excel in rifle marksmanship, who are enrolled in JROTC or ROTC and who have excellent academic and leadership records.

Herbert and Katherine Aitken Medical Scholars Program

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is currently promoting a pair of little-used scholarships for shooters who qualify. The scholarships were created by shooting sports enthusiast Doctor Herbert M. Aitken. Doctor Aitken left a scholarship fund at the University to promote rifle marksmanship.

State Specific Rifling Scholarships

Almost every state has a private shooting scholarship offered by a local shooting club or NRA chapter or a shooting lover. For example in Maryland, Monumental Rifle and Pistol Club has Dave Ward Memorial Scholarship and in New York members of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association can qualify for Matthew J. Stoff Memorial Junior Scholarship and through Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association one can get Donna Deal Memorial Scholarship.
