Overview: 
Offered by the San Diego Foundation, this scholarship is for students who are interested in mathematics, science, engineering, computers and information systems. More than 20 students get this award every year.

Scholarship Requirements: 

Graduating senior from a San Diego County public high school.
Planning to attend a four-year engineering program within Southern California.
Have a minimum 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Majoring in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems.

Application Process: 
Personal statement. Two letters of recommendation on official letterhead. Official transcript in an official and sealed envelope. Copy of the most recent tax filing. Unofficial copy of SAT score results. A completed and signed application.

ExxonMobil Scholarship

Overview: 
ExxonMobil the worlds leading oil company offers scholarships around the world to students puruse their education dreams.  Most of the ExxonMobil scholarships are available to students interested in purusing careers in science and engineering. 
Purpose: 
To support students pursuing education in science or engineering.
Scholarship Requirements: 

The requirements vary from scholarship to scholarship depending on who is issuing the scholarship and the purpose of the scholarship.  Some general requirements are:

  1. Must be purusing an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, mathematics or science.
  2. Must have a good academic standing.
  3. Must have passion for science and engineering including green technologies.
  4. Financial need may be required for some of the scholarships.
  5. Minority status may be required for some of the other scholarships.

The Teagle Foundation

AHETEMS Professional Scholarship

Overview: 

This is a merit-based scholarship for SHPE professionals who demonstrate significant motivation in pursuing their graduate education.

  • be employed full-time in the U.S. or Puerto Rico in a technical career field
  • be enrolled in a science, technology, engineering, mathematics graduate degree program at an accredited university atleast half time

  • must be pursuing a first masters or doctoral degree

AHETEMS General Scholarship

Overview: 

AHETEMS General Scholarships program offers merit-based and need-based general scholarships in the amount of $1,000 - $3,000, to qualified high school graduating seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students planning to get a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

  • may or may not be a U.S. citizen.  Illegal immigrants and international students can also try.

  • must have a minimum GPA: 3.00 on a 4.0 for high school seniors and undergraduates; 3.25 on a 4.0 scale for graduate students.
  • must major in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or a related field.
  • must be pursuing the first bachelors, masters or doctoral degree.

AHETEMS Dissertation Scholarships

Overview: 

Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math and Science offers $5,000 merit-based scholarships to doctoral candidates,  in science, technology, engineering or mathematics and have not completed their dissertation yet.

  • have advanced to candidacy

Gates Millennium Scholars scholarship

Overview: 

GMS scholarship supports 1000 college students with personal and professional development through their leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college career.

The scholarships provides:

  • the cost of education by covering unmet need and self-help aid
  • renewable awards for maintaining satisfactory academic progress
  • gaduate school funding in the areas of computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science

Purpose: 
To support African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American students
Scholarship Requirements: 

Student must be:

  • an African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
  • a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States
  • has attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED
  • will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student
  • has demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities
  • meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria
  • has completed and submitted all three required forms by the deadline.
