Archery an olympic sport is slowly gaining popularity among men and women of all age groups in the USA. To encourage this sport, several colleges, clubs and non profit organizations have initiated several Archery Scholarships for students who are willing to compete in target, field and flight competitions. The Olympic style (recurve)is the most popular type of archery competition behind the traget courses in most of the colleges. If you are a high school student who is interested in the sport and would like to get a scholarship you can find a Local Archery Club in your area. Below is the list of some of the major Archery Scholarships:

National Archery Association (NAA) Scholarship

Schoarship Requirements - The NAA funds and manages eight $500 scholarships for full-time college students. The Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, Calif. has an archery-oriented scholarship program which is also overseen by NAA. NAA scholarships are available to students who are at two or four year institutions, and have been active in the College Division program for at least one year and have competed in at least one USIAC. If more then eight applicants are qualified, only those who have recieved no other archery scholarship will be considered, including scholarships awarded by the USOC. Students must actively participate and compete in the College Division during the scholarship period. Scholarhsip TermScholarships are awarded for a one year term and must be re-applied for each year. Applicaton Process Students can downloand an application online. Applicants must provide the following: 1. A current transcript from the institution he/she attends, indicating a minimum 2.50 GPA (out of 4.0 maximum) prior to the December 31 submission deadline. 2. Two scores of their choice from NAA sanctioned adult tournaments during the 12 months prior to the December 31 deadline and one score from a USIAC. 3. Two letters of recommendation. All materials must be sent to the NAA National Office, 1 Olympic Plaza, Colorado Springs, CO 80906 by December 31.

NFAA Memorial Scholarship Program

National Field Archery Association offers an archery scholarship college students. There is no fixed number for number of scholarships to be issued. The number of scholarships to be given each year are determined by the Scholarship Committee, based on funds available and number of qualified nominees. The minimum amount will be $100, but the actual amount will be based on the amount available in the scholarship fund at the time of selection. Below are the requirements of the applicaton: 1. All applicants must be at least a senior in high school or enrolled in an institution of higher education. 2. All applicants must be current members of NFAA and have been a member of the NFAA for at least two (2) years. 3. High GPA is and other scholastic achievements are not the main requirement, but will be considered. Applicaton Process The completed application must be mailed to National Field Archery Association, 31407 Outer I-10, Redlands, CA 92373. All applications must be postmarked by December 31 to be considered for the following year.

NCAA Post Graduate Athletics Scholarship

The NCAA awards one-time grants of $7,500 to up to 174 postgraduate students annually, 87 for men and 87 for women. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. Scholarship Requirements - Below is a brief discussion of the scholarship requirements: 1. You must be a student-athletes at an active NCAA member institution (not from a provisional member institution) and are in their final season of NCAA athletics eligibility or will not be using any remaining athletics eligibility. 2. You have an overall undergraduate minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.200 (based on a 4.000 scale) or its equivalent, including all undergraduate hour earned at all undergraduate institutions attended. The grade-point average may not include any graduate-level hours. 3. You have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete is being nominated. The degree of the student-athlete's athletics achievement will be weighed in conjunction with academic performance, university involvement and volunteer community service. 4. You intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree and enroll in a graduate degree program on a part- or full-time basis at an academically accredited graduate or degree-granting professional school. 5. You are an outstanding citizen and excellent role models for the institution and intercollegiate athletics as a whole. Clarke Sinclair Memorial Archery College Scholarships

The goal of the Clarke Sinclair Memorial Archery Scholarship is to promote elite youth and collegiate archery. It gives away two $500 collegiate scholarships for academic purposes. Below are the requiremetns of the scholarship: 1. be a member of USA Archery 2. belong to an USA Archery recognized collegiate division club 3. be a full-time student with a gpa of 2.5. Minnesota State Archery Association Scholarship

If you are a graduating high school student or a student currently attending any of the first 3 years of college, who has good grades and is interested in archery, then this $250.00 scholarship is for you. Schoalrship Requirements In addition to good grades the applicant must be an MSAA member in good standing. Application Process 1. You should download an application from the MSAA website. 2. Applications must be postmarked no later than June 15 to be considered for that year's scholarship.

Nevada Bow Hunters Association Archery Scholarship

The Nevada Bow Hunters Association an affiliate for the National Field Archery Association offers a scholarship for students who have good grades, and are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of archery by activitely participating in it. University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Archery Scholarship

University Of Illinois - Avery Brundage Scholarship

The Avery Brundage Scholarship Fund is an endowment whose income is used for "scholarships, grants, or fellowships" for University of Illinois students "who are both gifted students and exceptional athletes, for their combined physical and mental development."
